Senior Security Assessment Specialist

SkyePoint Decisions, Inc. is seeking a dedicated and experienced individual to join our team as a Senior Security Assessment Specialist. In this role, you will support the Department of Education's Cybersecurity and Privacy Support Services (CPSS). This position is primarily remote, allowing you flexibility in your work environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide expert guidance on the Information System Security and Authorization (SA) program, focusing on security assessment processes.
- Develop and refine standards, policies, and procedures to enhance program oversight.
- Evaluate and enhance the effectiveness of program capabilities, including Privacy Impact Assessments (PIA) and System Security Plans (SSPs).
- Analyze Third Party Websites and Applications (TPWA) for compliance and security integrity.
- Ensure system documentation supports authorization to operate (ATO) requests through thorough review and analysis.
- Prepare ATO packages for review and approval from CISO and CIO.
- Manage assessment reports, ensuring proper documentation in the ED FISMA Management Tool (CSAM).
- Facilitate data collection efforts for audits and compliance reporting.
- Conduct audits of Plan of Actions and Milestones (POA&M) for thoroughness and adherence to regulations.
- Contribute to an ongoing security authorization process, including continuous monitoring efforts.
- Assist with documentation for CISO-led initiatives and respond to stakeholder inquiries.
- Provide technical review and feedback on security and privacy documentation.
- Track and manage renewal timelines for ongoing security authorizations.
- Conduct lessons learned sessions to promote best practices within the team.
Qualifications
- Eligibility for a DoED Level 6 High Risk/Public Trust Security Clearance.
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience with 5-10 years in relevant fields.
- A minimum of 3 years in a computer security incident response role.
- 3 years of experience with both enterprise Linux and Windows systems administration.
- Prior experience in a Security Operations Center is advantageous.
- Familiarity with Active Directory and other enterprise credential stores.
- A strong passion for information security and incident response.
- Knowledge of cyber threat intelligence principles.
- Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills.
- Strong critical thinking and problem-solving capabilities.
- Capacity to quickly adapt to new technologies and changing environments.
- Proven ability to work both independently and collaboratively within teams.
- Experience in advanced malware analysis and reverse engineering is a plus.
- U.S. citizenship is required.
Preferred Qualifications
- Possession of an active Top Secret security clearance.
